View AllI found this book to be more enjoyable than the previous books in the main series. I felt like the romance was a explored more slowly and the relationship developed more intensely than the previous pairing. The slow burn was pleasing and we could actually see how the dynamics gradually changed. I also really fell in love with Mische in this duology compared to the original - the way she sacrifices and diminishes herself for everyone around her was incredibly sad but touching. The MMCs tattoos, powers, scars, and eye didn't hurt either. I can't wait to see how the characters continue in the next story and how it ties in with the rest of the series.
if you loved the nightborn duet, but wanted more of the gods, this is the book, you learn not only about Mische and her connection to her god. but also the other gods and what happened to her when she was turned. Asar is the typicall moody MMC who just wants to do his job and is forced to work with others. cant wait for book 2
