why did I not read this a year ago! So I bought this book in New Zealand last year and it got put on my to read shelf... then I had to move to the U.K.so it's been in a box, on a ship, and on a shelf again 🤔 so after beta reading a book for a new author I decided to get a paperback off my shelf and read one instead of them just looking pretty. and the cover is beautiful, it's what drew me to pick it up (and sneak buy it as I'd been banned from buying any more till I'd read the pile of my tbr bookshelf (70 plus at a guess 😵 #bookaholic) anyway. OMG I'm so glad I sneaked it onto my shelf haha...It's fantastic!) shhh don't tell hubby but I've bought book 2 soon as I finished this book 😂 I couldn't wait till I finished those still waiting. I need another fix of Magonia. Ms.Headley has gotten me hooked on her fantastic world of blue sky people, shifter birds, and it was such a breath of fresh air, excuse the pun. from the dying girl who refused to be an invalid to her being transformed into the savior that her people were hoping for, Aza Ray is such a diverse character, Jason her nerdy friend was perfect friend/love interest, smart, resourceful and he never gave up. I read this book at every chance I could. and can't wait for book two to arrive. 'm on second thought, I'm glad I only have to wait for the post to arrive, I'd have been so bummed to have to wait for Aerie to be published 😉❤📕 I recommend you buy this book if you love fresh new fantasy world's.

It took my quite a while to get into this book.Normally I love sassy and sarcastic characters but with Aza it was just different. She kind of got onty my nerves since around page 100 but I still don't really like her as a character.Don't get me wrong, this book is written really well. I just couldn't get into the character.I really enjoyed the chapters that were written out of Jasons view and I really like him.The storyline started out great. There's this girl Aza who is sick since she's small kid. In fact she is the only person on the planet that has this lung condition. After that it got a bit weird for my liking but it was something different from anything I've read entirely which made me really curious about what is going to happen. However I didn't like the ending. I felt like the last pages were a bit rushed.Still this book wasn't totally bad. As a quick read it was totally ok.
