A midsummers nights dream manga/graphic novel review Art: While at first glance the art may look amazing upon closer inspections it has flaws while soft and elegant the lines are almost shaky and drawing seem flat after a while the characters looks start to get on your nerves. While the art is soft and pretty with say the fairies is doesn't stand well with the human characters B-Characters: Shakespeare is known to have many many characters in his plays while romeo and Juliet had only 21 characters some of which weren't even that important A mid summers night has 21 characters (what?) as well and unlike Romeo all the characters in this are important however there names or roles are hard to keep straight with some. Over all the human characters were either stupid and pointless or interesting but stereotypical the Fairies however were very interesting the very queen was vapid stubborn and disloyal the fairy king was revenge seeking cruel...and yet somewhat of a kind trickster. Despite mixups and hard to remember who's who and whats what names the characters are a classic staple of any Shakespeare play and hold up well for a Shakespeare manga C+ Story: Silly, classic, poetic and Wthello was that. This is the story about a boy who loves a girl who is engaged to a guy who is being persuade by another girl and then the fairies come and mess everything up. This story is a classic and translates well into a comic while still using Shakespearean dialect word for word making it a slow read but the pictures help it not be as slow. The faeries were beautiful and dangerous looking. Puck looked stupid as did the humans from time to time. The love square was amusing, fun and funny while the play at the end and the actors there were highly unnecessary and dull. Some parts dragged more then they needed to and at times you will have to go back to the beginning where the who's who characters are to get the names and relationships straight while a classic story and fun at times the over all feeling was your glad its over CCover:The donkey head guy sniffing a flower with the fairy queen petting him while this is not the best of the manga Shakespeare covers its not the worst not very eye catching or likeable but it gets the story across slightly CRating: T for teen Company: Amulet studios My rating : 3 of 5 after a while I found flaws in the art work and it got annoying and highly confusing at times not the worst but defendant not the best and NOT a good manga shakespeare to start with if you want a full effect of “epic” try the Romeo and Juliet one
