View AllFor a character I was completely indifferent to for seven books, Gregory ended up being a surprisingly decent lead. In fact, he might be one of the least frustrating Bridgerton men, which is honestly a low bar, but I'll take it.
My biggest issue was the romance itself. Gregory spends a huge chunk of the book convinced he's in love with Hermione despite barely knowing her, so when his feelings suddenly shift to Lucy, it felt more like convenience than destiny. I liked Lucy far more than Gregory, and there were times I felt she deserved someone who saw her first rather than someone who eventually realized she was the better choice.
That said, this book was messier, more dramatic, and a lot less formulaic than the previous installments. The final act was surprisingly chaotic in a way I genuinely didn't expect, and it kept me turning the pages.
Overall, not my favorite Bridgerton book, but not my least favorite either. A solid ending to the series, even if I never fully bought into the romance. At least Gregory wasn't out here testing my patience every other chapter like some of his brothers.
