Description
Luna has always been able to exist in virtual and real worlds at the same time, a secret she is warned to keep. She hides her ability by being a Refuser: excluded by choice from the virtual spheres others inhabit. But when she is singled out for testing, she canβt hide any longer.
The safest thing to do would be to fail, to go back to a dead-end life, no future. But Luna is starting to hope for something better, and hope is a dangerous thing.

View AllI bought this book when It was released, loved it and it's been around the world with me 5 times. now I am releasing my physical books into other readers hands since I don't have room for a bookshelf in my caravan π.I started this quest in the New Year 2025. who knows how many books I'll re-home by New Year Eve π€·.10 years later and the book didn't disappoint, I remembered a little bit of the story, but 10 years is a long time and I'm nearly 60 so it was a bit like reading it for the first time, with an essence of my recollection of what would happen.thankfully my brain π§ (and ain't that funny) didn't remember all the plot twists.I still was blown away by the ending.BUT do you know what was different This time reading it... that the premise of the story, where the human population is spending virtually all their time in virtual reality rather than the real world, is a lot more nearer becoming an actual thing, and what's more frightening, is that I can actually believe that there'd be corporations and people willing to do what PareCo did in the book π«£.when this book came out virtual gaming was in its infancy, but the future is heading towards us at a fast pace... let's hope we don't end up in Luna's predicament!I'm off to re read the Slated series now as one virtual task world Luna had to visit was based on the series, and it got me wanting to read it next, and luckily I have the 3 books nearby π
