It's been over a decade since I first read this series. I picked the series up again because I finally got my hands on copies of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Sunrise on the Reaping. This is probably my least favourite book in the trilogy. I remember being bored halfway through the first time I read Mockingjay and I'm afraid this still happens. I mean, all they did was shoot a lot of propos for most of the book. I also don't remember the characters being so vastly different from book two. Katniss was so strong-willed in books one and two and just seemed like a shell of herself in this one. But she has been through a lot so I guess that would change anyone. HOWEVER, nostalgia won out again. I pushed through the middle of the book, got my heart ripped out during the sewer scene and now I can't wait to read TBOSAS.
🐦⬛2.6 stars... 🪖I'm sorry but this book just wasn't that interesting to me... It's probably because I'm not a HUGE fan of war violence and the heavy politics plot. 🫰FAVOURITE: "You love me. Real or not real?" "Real."👍Emotional devastation was there. I cried at Peeta's hijacking and Finnick's death and Prim's death.👍Satisfying ending, little to no loose ends left.👎Events that happened were uninteresting and dull to me. I just couldn't really care about the rebellion. War and rebellion plots are not for me, and that's okay.
Really good, way better than the movies, start was kinda boring, but I loved it cause of the inner dialog which gives you a lot more info than the movies did. Also katniss and peetas relationship buildup was SO GOOD, like I didn't think it would be able to be better than the movies but it was so much more genuine and sweeter
people who don't like this book because they find it boring!!!!! they exist... and they are the capitol in real life. they are reading this merely for the romance subplot and the suspense of child murder of course they are going to be disappointed. this was a perfect ending to he trilogy. thank you Suzanne ... can I call you Suzanne... I'm just gonna... thank you for all you do!!!
The best I can explain the ending isn't that it's happy or sad. The ending is just an ending and I think that's perfect
La historia de Katniss me conmueve tanto y siempre que vuelvo a visitar este libro o sus películas, lo hace sin falta.
Because I still haven't gathered my thoughts I just want to go ahead and say this was so much more painful than the movie. And besides the main plot-points, the second half seemed so different in details from the movie, it was like reading this story again except for when Finnick dies, somehow that hurt even more because we got to see more of his character
It was amazing the second time just as much as is was the first time!! I almost cried at Finnick's andPrim's deaths and everything that happened with Peeta.
Okay this is going to be a review that if you haven't read the book, you don't want to read ... I enjoyed this series more than I thought I would BUT I think Mockingjay was a cop out and lazy, too much repetition and to easy to figure out. The only thing that I agreed with for the ending was the assassination of Coin otherwise the book just left me disappointed, wanting more depth and believing that there were so many better alternative ways to conclude the series. I feel that Collin's let the character of Katness down, there was SO much potential. The epilogue was a short tidy wrap up but without addressing TONS of issues left hanging or unwilling to address. With all that I am glad I read the series and that I got to know the characters Collins' developed.
