Description
Polly Perks finds herself in a uniquely absurd predicament as she cuts off her hair to disguise herself as a boy and join the army. In a world where traditional gender roles are upended, Polly's transformation leads her to an unlikely band of misfits, each with their own quirks and backstories. Together, they navigate the challenges of military life, encountering absurdity at every turn.
As they march toward battle, the narrative explores deeper themes of identity and camaraderie, while maintaining Pratchett's signature blend of humor and satire. The journey of Polly and her comrades is one of courage, friendship, and the realization that sometimes, the most powerful thing one can be is oneself, regardless of societal expectations.

I know many see this as being one of the weaker Discworld books, but I disagree - I really enjoyed it. The best way I can describe it is being Pratchett's version ofJoan of Arc and Mulan, with plenty of satire, sarcasm and swears (honestly, I'll never not laugh at someone being called a "tit").
