❄️1 star.🎄EDIT: 1.5 stars (Reason: I didn't like the morals behind this book, but that aside, it wasn't a bad book at all.)Not sure what this book was trying to convey here. I honestly pretend this novella doesn't exist -- it's literally dead to me. Felt like a disappointment after the beautiful, beautiful piece of art that is Finale.🫰FAVOURITE: Loved seeing more of Scarlett, Julian, Tella and Legend.👍The art was so good! I forgot Julian had a ponytail.👍The writing was still Stephanie Garber, which meant it felt whimsical and made me realise how much I love her writing.👎The plot was kind of morally gray and lowkey questionable. It lacked explanations and even had sensitive topics like harassment (although this was later justified not to be, it seemed like it at the time). It felt a bit like Stockholm Syndrome. We seem to forget that this is a YA series, and I wouldn't encourage children and teenagers to be reading this.
The story was cute and fun, but somehow it almost felt childish. I know the books are YA but this one felt aimed at an even younger age group than the others.
This novella was short n sweet. It was d best way to end the series.

Nothing short of SPECTACULAR and DREAMY!!! Wish I had read it in winter. The illustrations oh my lord!!! So pretty. And it was so fun to read and fairytale like. Stephanie Garber really knows her way around fantasy. YA WHERE?!!!! LEGEND!!! YA WHERE?!!! It was definitely a bit steamy, hehe. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Julian and Scarlett!!! May a love like theirs aggressively attack me! ToT
Eu não sou fã da Donatella, ela é muito egocêntrica e narcisista pro meu gosto, mas continua sendo interessante ver o mundo pela perspectiva dela. O livro foi um gostinho de açúcar com romance, mas sinto que a autora desperdiçou uma chance de inserir vários mini contos sobre o universo de Caraval nesse livro e vamos ser sinceros: todo mundo queria mais da Scarlett e do Julian, não da Tella e do Lenda
The Caraval world is one that is beautiful and truly magical and when I finally read the series; I was captivated by everything Stephanie Garber wrote from the world, the lore of the series and the wonderful characters.So, when Spectacular was announced? It was an instant purchase because I'd missed this piece of magic and with the beautiful illustrations by Rosie Fowinkle elevated this nostalgic Christmas tale. It was like slipping back under your favourite blanket, and I could practically smell the sweetness of hot chocolate, and feel the crisp crunch of snow underfoot as Donatella searches for the perfect gift for her beloved Legend. It has the whimsy lovers of Stephanie Garber's writing will be delighted to see but… I do wish we'd had more glimpses of Scarlett and Julian because they're so important to Caraval. Even a little bit more of Jacks and anything of Eva because once again; I missed them. This is a perfect novella for a wintry morning, so make yourself a hot chocolate with the perfect amount of whipped cream, and curl up for your return to the mischief and magic that is the world of Caraval and all its wonder.
