Description
In meinem Haus. Meiner Gnade ausgeliefert.

View AllI wanted to like it I really did. The other 2 books were some of my favorites that I've read this year but this one just lacked something. The FMC wasn't super likable, she spent the whole time misremembering things until it suited her to remember it correctly. Plus her and Ollie's relationship seemed more based on sex than anything else, I mean Ollie seemed like he really cared she just felt like she was along for the ride for most of it. I felt kind of bad for Ollie. Like sure he probably shouldn't have ditched her like he did but I'd say he had a bloody good reason whereas she was just being a bitch about the whole thing. Did she honestly think that after all those years of Ollie being obsessed with her that he would just leave after they had sex ffs. Oh and another thing...this book is just confusing. It's like they had an idea but kept forgetting about it so either contradicted themselves or shoehorned it in on random places. Like for instance Ollie's sex life - he spends a fair amount of the book saying Briar was the only one that ever did it for him and he tried all these other things to make sex work with others but it just didn't. And then all the rest of the time is talking about how often he has sex or how many women he's been with. I mean I know he's trying to keep up a certain image but why would you do that to the woman you love and are trying to win back. All I wanted him to do was come clean about everything but that never seemed to really happen, it was just glossed over. Ollie only being attracted to Briar could have been a great opportunity to bring some asexual (demisexual) representation into the romance genre but the whole thing was just....nothing. And it's not just Ollie that got this treatment Briar did as well. I still have no idea or Cameron Cooper is her bio father or not. Like it says they have a DNA match but then like 2 paragraphs later she asks why he kept looking for her if she wasn't his daughter. Like WTF? It felt like the authors had thought out and planned the first part of the book but then had no idea where to go after that and it just kind repeated and trailed off. I struggled so hard to finish this book and it makes me not want to read anything else they write which is a shame because I really liked the first and second books in this series.
