There is something absolutely captivating about the gothic charm of a romance involving the English countryside and the ever-present wondering about whether or not we're witnessing magic or simply the art of nature's creations. This book isn't just a tale of romance, but also a deep dive into the many ways the past shaped the future we are living in. While I don't want to spoil the ways this proves true in the book, there is, without doubt, a very melancholic aura to the story... To the struggle of its characters and the way they, like us today, fight not only themselves and their flaws but also the circumstances in which they exist. The book is absolutely lovely, and I am glad my day has been spent enjoying it without either hurry or interrumption.
