Not So Fast

This book was my choice to be my first read of 2026 and I LOVED IT! Not So Fast is a super cute story and fun read. 🩷Xander and Mia are so cute together once they finally realize how they feel about each other after starting out as enemies due to something that Mia said about his driving on her podcast. One of my favorite parts of the story was when she told him that she loved him for the first time. Another one of my favorite scenes was the one where they went to the park together when they were trying to get away from Reginald. That was a really sweet scene when the two of them were sitting on the park bench. I also loved the part of the story where they made breakfast together. And the scene where he surprised her during her live recording of her podcast, that scene was adorable! Another thing I loved in the story was the Harry Styles reference. 🙂These were just a couple of my many favorite lines/quotes from Not So Fast; "Mia had always thought it was outright ridiculous when someone said they loved a person’s accent. It felt so much like fetishization of culture or identity. Well, Xander had just turned her into a British accent fetishist in 1.7 seconds. Hot d**n, she wanted to roll around in his voice and rub it all over her n**ed body like British body butter." {Chapter 2}"The elevator dinged and the doors opened. Part of her wanted to turn and confront him, tell him he’d hurt her by ignoring her for her entire stay. Karen Booth's "Not So Fast" delivers a delightful and comfortingly familiar mix of romance, humor, and heartfelt moments- think comfort food for the rom-com enthusiast. Mia and Xander generate undeniable chemistry, fuelled by witty banter and slow-burning tension that's perfectly oh-so-satisfying. While the story is too predictable at times it's an easy flaw to overlook as you become invested in Mia and Xander's globe-trotting adventures and their personal growth. Navigating the challenges of a long-distance relationship while addressing their own struggles adds layers of relatability and depth.For those seeking a smart, entertaining romance with characters you’ll root for, Not So Fast is an absolute must-read.
