Description
An English translation of E.T.A. Hoffman's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (1814) translated by Mrs St. Simon for D. Appleton & Company in 1853. The story follows the adventures of young Marie Stahlbaum and sees her favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, come alive and, after defeating an evil Mouse King, transports her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls.
