Description
In a world where lineage and power intertwine, a young man discovers the darker aspects of his heritage. As a bastard born of royal blood, he grapples with the weight of expectations that come with his lineage. But his life takes a sinister turn when fate reveals his skills as an assassin, coupled with dark and powerful abilities that set him apart from those around him.
While navigating treacherous political landscapes and the shadows of his past, he becomes the unwilling centerpiece in a game played by those who seek to control him. Each choice he makes could lead him to redemption or plunge him deeper into a realm of darkness. With the fate of the realm in the balance, he must confront not only external enemies but also the inner demons that threaten to consume him. This gripping tale weaves themes of identity, power, and destiny, blurring the lines between hero and villain.

Hobb cleverly gives Fitz a reprieve and time and to draw him back into the politics that had already taken so much from him. She picks up years after the events of the first trilogy when change is starting to return to Fitz's life, places the pieces back upon the board, paints in the missed time, and draws us into a mystery threaded with loneliness and heartbreak. What an excellent return to Buck Fool's Errands gives us.
