I read this after I finished the series so realistically I knew how it would end. Did I still cry. Yes. Did I want a different ending. Yes. Sigh.
I loved tandem-reading this with Powerless and I also loved this series so much. It's so heartbreaking at the end but I love to hate it. (I sobbed my heart out)
🪡3.5 stars🌟This was lowkey better than the first book. It was cute, but felt very rushed and insta-love.🫰That ending. I guess I must enjoy having my heart ripped down the middle or something. Knowing how it ends didn't make it hurt any less.👍 Pacing and writing were good.👎 Romance was rushed. I wish the novella was longer so we could introduce more slow burn.
Nooooo this book utterly broke me. I knew, from reading Poweless, it wasn't going to have a happy ending. Poor Makoto, losed everybody he tried to save.
this book made me SOB OMG 😭 truly was amazing, but omg now i’m a wreck 😭
3 mots : TRISTE. TOUCHANT.
“See you in the sky"This novella was such a fun and emotional ride. I’ve loved Adena since the moment she was introduced in Powerless. When I found out Powerful would focus entirely on her? I knew I had to read it. What I didn't expect was to be an emotional mess by the end. I thought I was ready. I was not.Getting to spend more time in Adena’s head was honestly a gift. And then… there's Mak. Sweet, guarded, absolutely doomed Mak. They were clearly meant to be, which just made everything hit so much harder. Part of me wants to see more of Mak later in the series somehow.I also did the tandem read of Powerful alongside Powerless, and I’m so glad I did. Switching between the two books gave me extra context for the scenes, which made the story more engaging. Adena’s POV added layers to moments in Paedyn’s, and it was cool to see things happening parallel to the main plot.My reviews of the Powerless series- Powerless- Reckless- Fearless
Getting to know Adena feels like a privilege that gets ripped away just as it had in the first book. A little bit of grumpy and sunshine trope peaking through the gruesome world of Powerless.
Somehow, reading Adena's death from Makato's POV was worse than reading it from Adena's or Paedyn's..
honestly the writing was better in this one and I might prefer adena as the fmc over pae but it all felt kinda unfinished and not very well thought out and wasn't particularly gripping
