My Rating: ★★★★½Tracy Lorraine... I need to have a serious conversation with you.How do you manage to absolutely overdeliver on every single prequel you write? One Reckless Knight was hands down my favourite prequel from you so far, and considering how much I've loved the others, that's saying something. It was emotional, ridiculously spicy, and had just enough mystery sprinkled throughout to keep me questioning absolutely everything. From the very beginning, you can feel the weight of the heroine's grief. She's drowning, desperate to escape her reality, and then he walks in.Cue the reckless decisions.Cue the chemistry.Cue me telling myself, "It's only a prequel. It'll be fine."Reader... it was, in fact, not fine. The chemistry between these two was absolutely unreal. Tracy somehow managed to pack so much tension, emotion, and spice into a 7 chapter story that I completely forgot I wasn't reading a full-length novel. Every chapter pulled me in deeper, and before I knew it, I was flying through the pages wondering how on earth this was all going to wrap up.Then...THAT. FUCKING. PLOT. TWIST.Tracy, girly...Respectfully... what the actual fuck?I genuinely cannot say another word without spoiling it, but just know my jaw hit the floor so hard I'm surprised it didn't crack the tiles. I actually sat there staring at my Kindle trying to process what I'd just read because there is absolutely no way you dropped that information and expected me to simply carry on with my day after that fucking cliffhanger. You cannot end a prequel like that and just... leave. That's criminal behaviour.Needless to say, I am now fully committing to reading the entire Knight's Ridge Empire series. Yes, I am fully aware that's something ridiculous like 27 freaking books across multiple interconnected trilogies, but after that ending I don't exactly feel like I have a choice anymore and I'm being held hostage. If you love emotional romance, addictive chemistry, plenty of spice, hidden identities, and plot twists that completely blindside you, then trust me when I say this one deserves a spot on your TBR immediately.Overall, One Reckless Knight was emotional, spicy, completely addictive, and the perfect way to pull readers into the Knight's Ridge Empire. Tracy Lorraine has once again reminded me why she's one of my automatic-read authors... even if she does insist on emotionally assaulting me with cliffhangers.Triggers:Hidden identityPseudo-incestIdentity deceptionDubious consentDrug use (MDMA/Ecstasy/Molly)Alcohol abuse / intoxicationGrief / bereavementDeath of a family member (occurs prior to the start of the book)
