Description

Rook Splitter is a handsome, ex-Ivy League hockey star living an idyllic life on a cattle ranch in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Only his handler and the president of the United States know he is a contract assassin terminating high-value terrorist targets.

The president asks Splitter to eliminate a CIA analyst thought to be spying for Iran. Although it wrangles Splitter’s steadfast refusal to engage targets who are American citizens, he agrees.

During his reconnaissance for the mission he meets Gina, an intriguingly beautiful heiress with her own dark secrets. At the eleventh hour he aborts the mission because he believes the analyst is not a spy and the real spy is a member of the president’s inner circle of intelligence advisors. The following day the analyst is murdered and Splitter narrowly escapes a car bomb. After several more attempts on his life, Splitter figures the spy mistakenly thinks Splitter knows his identity and will stop at nothing to take him out. He goes into hiding in Washington aided by Gina, and they begin surveillance of three suspects—all high up in the intelligence hierarchy of the government. Splitter has tense encounters with each of them and when he discovers the identity of the spy his troubles suddenly escalate.

Full of action, suspense, and intrigue while detailing the tradecraft of a master assassin and exploring the mind of a professional killer, Paladin takes the reader on a James Bond-style espionage adventure.
