Description
Excerpt from Peace
Was it for' this our fathers crossed the main? For this they founded, on a distant shore, New forms of government, where Peace should reign And shower her choicest blessings evermore? If such the fruits their labors, sufferings bore, Alas! For hope upon this dreary earth! That blissful period, prophesied of yore, The long millenial reign, the ride of worth, When nations shall not war, will never know-a birth.
