Description

George Masters and Bill Green are on a holiday from Scotland Yard at a small village near Durham when they are called out to a murder investigation at a seaside resort not far away. It appears that the son of an Essex police colleague has died suddenly in his sailboat during a race. Before long, Masters and Green are joined by their assistants, Dectective Sergeatns Tippen and Berger. All are made welcome by the local police who feel in over their heads.

They begin by investigating other members of the yacht club and soon discover that there is quite a bit of adulterous behavior going on behind the scenes. Soon a pattern emerges as to who might have a motive for murder, but the method is curiously elusive. Masters must make the most of his hunches and his limited knowledge of sailing before he can put his finger on the who, what, and how of the murder.
