Poland is Watching, exclusive for Kindle, is the story of the grit and determination of Polish mountaineers; and one group’s last desperate push to summit a treacherous peak during winter. Each, though, leaves a family behind, wracked by emotional tolls. “Mountaineering was the only life for which I was fit,” the protaganist admits. “I understood my wife’s despair: we spent every particle of energy we had to get off the mountain alive and return to our homes, then couldn’t wait to go back.” Of course, this trip, he had told his disbelieving wife, was somehow different. And now, pinned high above the Himalayan clouds, ravaged by guilt and by a deadly storm, he realizes why.
