In this beautiful and spaciously-constructed book, Barbara Cole uses the white space of the page to frame her meditative reflections on memory and movement into rectangular "postcards" which form an extended narrative while remaining distinct: "I thought I was working to build something, thought I was leaving the door open for possibility, something real or lasting. and of course we want the fairy tale. we grew up eating it. swallowing it down like vitamins -- for our own good."
