This sequel is just as good if not slightly better than the first book!
One of the best short series/books I've read in such a long time. Really introspective about how are perspectives skew reality and that our perspecrive isn't the only thing going on in the world. The robot is also the most adhd/autistic coded character I've ever read and it was refreshing to listen to a character examine the world and new experiences similar to how i do
I really love this series and I definitely want to read it again at some point
Just read it. There’s no real way to describe the bliss that is this book. Mosscap and Dex are adorable. This is absolutely cozy fantasy at its finest.
This was maybe hinted at in the first novella but definitely made explicit here that the society this takes place in is communist. And as someone working to bring that world to fruition it makes the questions asked in this edition to the series a lot more intriguing. It became less about existential crises of ppl in a utopian society and more about the lingering impact of capitalist exploitation and indoctrination. We can estimate how long it will take for the natural world to heal from the overextraction and overconsumption of resources along with the pollution that our major industries produce. But how long will it take humanity to unlearn the values, behaviors, and social norms of a white supremacist capitalist patriarchal society? And will we be able to heal from the unspeakable harm this system and the institutions built to sustain it have done?

I would love a prequel from Mosscap's perspective, just hanging out being interested in bugs and stuff. ________________________________________________This book is perfect, this series is perfect, everything Becky Chambers writes is perfect.
