Description

A social, bright young woman named Cleo, struggles to survive in a marriage confined to a farm and controlled by her husband and his mother. In desperation, she is driven to an act of rebellion that turns the family’s life into chaos. Unable to retreat, she takes steps toward building a new future. Her surprising ally in the changed direction is Mother Edna. Finally Paul realizes he can’t fence the family in and begins to make compromises. Relationships strengthen only to be battered by a series of crises. When Edna passes away and the farm is threatened, Cleo finally comes to understand that Paul and the farm are both important to her. She may have a chance at happiness if she has grown enough to trust again.
