I tried to stick with this because I love Greek mythology and this was supposed to be loosely based on Hades and Persephone, but I ended up DNF’ing at 34%. There didn’t seem to be much of a plot outside of smut and I couldn’t make any sense out of what little plot there was.
I loooved them. Kal and Elena are perfect for each. Their matches the darkness in each other and their epilogue is deserved
I have to give a huge shout out to Rock Engle and Charlotte Claremont for a wonderful wonderful audiobook. The dedication these two have to their craft is evident in every word they narrate! I thought the lil taboo would be too much for me but I came around pretty quickly. And then my soul was ripped through my heart and stomped on. I was so distraught during the last quarter of this book I actually thought I wasn’t gonna make it to the end 😩 my love for a Hades+Persephone inspired story continues with an absolutely knock out
DNF - 22%I was excited to read this book. I love a good Hades and Persephone retelling. But… it got a bit weird for my taste. Nothing wrong with a dark romance, I’ve read plenty of it. Maybe it’s the blood play, or desire for her blood when it’s not a vampire romance that was off-putting. Then the fact that he always calls her “little one” - at first I thought it was just because she was tiny, but then I found out that he knew her mother in a more than likely intimate way when he was younger, which in turn means he has probably seen her grow up… it felt weird. Putting notes on her balcony thinking it was her mothers. Idk. Not the right story for me.
Che dire, non so ancora se sia il mio genere o no. Di sicuro non è un retelling del mito di Ade e Persefone, vengono solo nominati per rendere un po’ più chiari i personaggi, che tutto sommato sono caratterizzati abbastanza bene. Non ho apprezzato molto il continuo utilizzo di determinati epiteti verso di lei da parte di lui, ma è proprio una questione personale perché è ovvio che in un romanzo di questo tipo venga utilizzato un certo tipo di linguaggio, però secondo me qualcuno in meno ogni tanto non sarebbe stato male. La trama invece l’ho trovata abbastanza scorrevole e chiara, avrei preferito magari che venissero approfonditi certi aspetti piuttosto che risolvere le cose così velocemente diciamo, però è solo gusto personale.
