View AllWell… this book definitely lived up to all its hype! Yes, it may be another sassy, headstrong FMC that ends up in a fae world and falls for a tall, dark-haired shadow daddy Romantasy that feels overly familiar- BUT, I feel like it was different enough to feel fresh. The unique magic system, the portals to other realms, the vampires- they all gave it a different aspect that kept me intrigued. I even got some Beauty and the Beast vibes through the beginning, which is always a good thing for me. There was a little “telling vs showing” and unnatural info-dumping in the dialogue at the beginning, but once the story got going, it really took off! The word building was incredible, the battle and action scenes were intense and graphic in the best way, and I absolutely loved all of the side characters! Carrion may be a new favorite character, and Kingfisher melted my heart with the way he sacrificed so much for his people. I’m interested to see how his and Saeris’s characters continue to develop in the next book. In short, I loved it! I do NOT love the cliffhanger, however… I can’t wait to read Brimstone!
THIS BOOK!! honestly such a good read Kingfisher is so fine and Saeris is such a baddie. My favorite character has to be Carrion
4.5 ⭐️This book was really good! The banter was good, and the way the author did the fated mates trope was done well also. I loved the found family aspect. The only problem I had was the pacing. It felt like there was a lot happening at one time or that it was moving so slow that it felt like nothing was happening. But, I still had fun with it.
