I loved this series so much and I'm so excited for the final book but I also don't want it to end!
I enjoyed Reckless more than Powerless, but it still didn’t consume me the way some other books have. That said, it was a solid sequel with plenty of tension, action, and romance to keep me entertained. The story picks up right where we left off, and I appreciated how much the characters grew in this instalment. The stakes are higher, the betrayals sting a little more, and the emotions hit harder. The dynamic between the main characters was a highlight for me—angsty, complicated, and filled with moments that made me feel. That said, there were times when Payden and Kai’s constant refusal to admit their feelings started to feel a bit repetitive and even frustrating. Their back-and-forth, drawn-out tension felt like it slowed the pace a bit and, honestly, became a little annoying after a while.Lauren Roberts’ world-building remains strong, and I enjoyed getting more depth to the political tensions and conflicts. There were a few twists that landed well, though some felt a touch predictable. The pacing was good overall, but I did feel a slight disconnect at times, which stopped it from being a completely gripping read. While it didn’t have the all-consuming magic I’ve found in other books, Reckless was a definite improvement over Powerless and kept me engaged until the final page. It’s full of action, angst, and morally grey moments that fans of the series will love.
Aahhhhh, why a cliffhanger?!?!?!?!Beside that they were so cute and I loved the rest of the book ❤️
"Because the beast doesn’t get the beauty." This ending line was my undoing. Pae n Kai needs a happy ending, i swear.
I can't describe how I feel right now about everything that I've had feelings for and then vanished with just a phrase in the end. From THE WRONG PERSON. “You are to be my bride.”I felt like I'm a little girl who her parents passed away and all the people watching her with a eyes of pity because she didn't get what she wanted att all، I understand why Roberts did that because it's a series of them and i didn't expect this to goo further than it did in the first book, Kai and Payden felt a little delusion in a big ugly reality, and i really loved it, eventhough the end ripped my heart into pieces. This phrase was spoiled to me before on tiktok from a video and i wass so exited because i thought it was something beautiful that happened in this book but it was a BIG mistake to trust that feeling.
WHAT???????if i had to sit between this and Fearless i would have 1000% gone insane with the cliffhanger
Not as good as the first, a hell of a lot better than the novella
5 + RUINED. I AM UTTERLY RUINED AFTER READING THAT. This book is amazing. I have no words, so let's start from the start. I knew this book was gonna be 5 stars the moment I read the first 10 chapters, and that point just solidified every time Kia spoke. This man can just breathe, and I would be lost. I never thought anything could beat powerless until I read Reckless. Now on to the next thing, the ending. What the heck was that months of waiting just for me to read it in a few hours and finish on that. THAT. Lauren, what is that why??? I can't wait what so ever. I am in book hangover. Can't read anything else and that ending. Like what am I supposed to do now. Now, moving on to the angst. Oh my, the tension was boiling, the banter was bantering, and tropes were trooping. Every page had me squealing and giggling and kicking my feet. Every dialogue made me catch my breath. No amount of teasers could have prepared me for the real thing. The way Lauren Roberts use words and especially when it is Kia saying them has me panting for breath. Honestly, reading this book felt like a workout. My stomach was quivering so much every time Kia or Paeyden even breathed. Now the plot. Some people say it has no plot. Honestly, I am someone who reads to just get immersed in the world of the characters. Did that happen absolutely. I was transported into the book without effort. Also, I think what I loved is how character heavy it was. I love Pae, and I love Kia and the fact that the book focused on them yet still giving us literally everything and more is just amazing. Finally, I have to mention the reckless fanart. Oh may, if you thought Kia and Paeyden were good-looking in the first book, wait till you see the fanart of the second book. Kia in a bandana is the best thing I have seen. I have never even written such a long review, which just goes to show how much i love this book.
