Victoria Aveyard constrói um universo político envolvente, sustentado por uma divisão social simples, mas eficiente para discutir privilégios, poder e desigualdade. O ritmo da narrativa mantém o leitor constantemente interessado, e as reviravoltas funcionam justamente porque surgem de conflitos já estabelecidos ao longo da história. Mare é uma protagonista convincente, ainda que sua evolução siga caminhos relativamente previsíveis dentro do gênero. A escrita prioriza a fluidez em vez da complexidade, tornando a leitura extremamente dinâmica sem sacrificar completamente o desenvolvimento do mundo. Não reinventa a fantasia distópica, mas executa sua proposta com competência e personalidade.
For a little while, I thought this book might get four stars. I was intrigued by the world set-up, for all that it has kind of been done before. Putting it all together uniquely was done well, though, and I liked the little bits of everything. Almost X-Men style powers in a dystopian novel about crazy class conflicts where the differences are actually in the blood? Sounded quite cool. And for quite some time it was going well. We had the sort of pseudo-love triangle, but I thought I knew where it was going, I approved, and it never really got in the way. Mare was interesting, there was a bunch of different conspiracies going on at once and it was difficult to figure out who to trust, and the different powers manifested by each family were fascinating. I loved that aspect of the story--it was probably my favorite. Figuring out who had what and what that meant was amazing. I was willing to overlook a few minor inconsistencies (seriously, everyone just assumed that she had never in her life bled before? Because she should have noticed it was literally silver if she did) in order to get swept up in the story, because I was intrigued. Cal was faintly annoying to me in that way that only the crazily-into-war young prince set up as a potential love interest can be. I will never get the attraction to that type, but hey, they are popular in YA fiction of all types, and that is fine. All brawn and little real brains, almost no thought of the future--I get that some girls find them attractive, but they have never been interesting to me. But this was not a concern, because we had Maven. Maven, clever and thoughtful and genuinely caring about the future. Maven, who<spoiler>joined a revolutionary group not just for Mare, but for the principal of the thing. Maven, who was willing to do what needed to be done for his country.</spoiler> And then comes the twist. I did not like the twist. I did not like it at all. I did not like where the story ended up in the end and I am really disinclined to pick up the rest of the series, honestly. I don't want to see how this will play out, because it already relied on a few too many tropes for me, and with the twist in place, I feel like it is going to be all trope, all the time from here on in. I just don't terribly care. I'm kind of disappointed, because it seemed like it was going somewhere interesting, but now I don't feel invested at all.
This book broke me. I usually don’t write reviews but I need my thoughts out. This book broke me not like a bawling my eyes out throwing the book across the room kinda broke my but staring at the wall with my only thought being “ why would you write this” kinda broke me. I hate everyone in this book but I also can’t <spoiler>(except maven)</spoiler> everything I wanted to happen the writer took that and wrote the opposite in the gut wrenching way that is only thing I can say and </spoiler>that I got emotionally attached to maven and his betrayal felt like a sword right through my heart….</spoiler>
liked it, betrayal everywhere, bit confused at the ending and how it happened but it's all good.

I haven't read a dystopian book in ages and had a lot of fun with this one.It was definitely a nice mix of hunger games without a battle royal, and political intrigue with a large amount of trying to figure out everyone motives.My only issues were some grammatical errors and a bit too much flourishing descriptions, they just weren't needed. I will be continuing this series.-> 4.5 Stars
I loved this book!! The storyline had me captivated from the beginning. I loved the character growth and plot twits! This book had me thinking one thing is going to happen and then it changes to something completely different! So good! Highly recommend and can not wait to jump into glass sword!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Red Queen was such a good read! I loved the world — the whole Reds vs. Silvers thing was super interesting, and the mix of fantasy and rebellion kept me hooked. Mare was a really strong main character, and watching her figure things out was fun (and stressful lol).There were a few parts that dragged a little or felt kinda predictable, but the twists totally made up for it. That ending?? I did not see it coming. Overall, it’s a really solid start to the series and definitely worth picking up if you like drama, betrayal, and a bit of magic.

It took me a while to get into this one with all the world-building, but I couldn't put it down once that was out of the way! There were a lot of characters introduced, but they had good recall, so they didn’t just disappear. Secrets everywhere, twists, betrayals, and powers—such a wild ride! The whole Reds vs. Silvers dynamic was so intriguing, and that ending?? Brutal. Definitely excited to keep going with the series!

Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen series has sat on my Kindle for some time. I would start Red Queen and get a couple of chapters into it and then like most people - life would get in the way and I wouldn't get time to read.This week I decided enough was enough. I needed to actually buckle down and read a book that I had wanted to get my teeth into for years. It did not disappoint me at all.The characters are vivid and the world they are living in so well written that you feel yourself being part of Mave’s unhappy life in the Stilts. There are moments where I can almost smell the mud, damp wood and sweat of the over-worked and under-fed people who live in the Stilts with our future heroine.There's a dystopian nightmare situation that surrounds both the Reds, those with red blood in their veins; and those that govern - the Silvers with yes, you guessed it, silver blood. War surrounds and affects both groups though to varying degrees an even the small insight you get about those conscripted to a war that should have ended years ago; and it is evident that like with many battles over land, it cannot end peacefully for either side. That kind of war never does and the hopelessness of those with red blood facin that uncertain future is vivid and sad to be a witness too. They're cannon fodder for the wealthy who choose to go there as a means of showing bravery.Silvers are granted a choice, Reds wouldn't know what the world meant.Or do they? People are starting to come together to fight against tyranny and unbeknownst to Mave, she is going to be used in this battle whether she wants to or not.I loved seeing her grow from uncertain pickpocket to the woman we see her become as she grows and adapts to life and all it throws at her.If you're looking to lose yourself in a book that merges Orwell’s 1984 with aspects of The Hunger Games (but oh so much better I promise)This is for you. Victoria Aveyard’s writing is phenomenal and I’m already very invested in book two of the series. I reckon you will be too once you get lost in The Red Queen.
