Description

In a realm where blood color determines status and power, the divide between the Red commoners and the Silver elite creates a tense and volatile society. The Reds are oppressed, living in poverty and subjugation, while the Silvers wield extraordinary abilities, ruling with an iron fist. In this world of stark contrasts, the naïve hope of change stirs within the heart of Mare Barrow, a young Red who finds herself caught in a dangerous game of politics and deception.

Mare’s life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers her own latent powers, an anomaly in a world where only Silvers are supposed to possess such gifts. This shocking revelation catapults her into the heart of the Silver court, where alliances are fickle and loyalty is a rare commodity. As she navigates her new role, Mare must grapple with her own identity and the moral implications of her actions.

Betrayal lurks around every corner, and every choice carries consequences. As tensions rise, Mare becomes increasingly aware of the sacrifices required for freedom, questioning the true cost of a revolution. In a society where every relationship is fraught with danger, trust becomes a luxury that few can afford.

With her fate intertwined with those who wield power, Mare must decide how far she is willing to go to protect her loved ones and achieve justice. The line between hero and villain blurs, and the struggle for her future ultimately hinges on the choices she makes in a world that seeks to keep her oppressed.

It took me a while to get into this one with all the world-building, but I couldn't put it down once that was out of the way! There were a lot of characters introduced, but they had good recall, so they didn’t just disappear. Secrets everywhere, twists, betrayals, and powers—such a wild ride! The whole Reds vs. Silvers dynamic was so intriguing, and that ending?? Brutal. Definitely excited to keep going with the series!
