In a world where society is divided by blood, the elite with their silver blood possess extraordinary powers while the commoners bleed red and face oppression. Mare Barrow, a seemingly ordinary red-blooded girl, lives in the shadows of this hierarchy, struggling to survive in a place where her future seems predetermined. However, a chance encounter changes everything when she discovers her own unique ability, one that blurs the lines between the blood colors.

As Mare is thrust into the treacherous courts of the silver elite, she must navigate a world filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and deception. The realm is rife with tension as various factions vie for power, and Mare finds herself caught in the web of ambition and rivalry. With each secret she uncovers, the stakes rise higher, forcing her to confront her identity and question the very nature of power itself.

Beneath the dazzling surface of glamour lies a struggle for freedom and a fight against injustice. Mare becomes an instrumental figure in the rising resistance, challenging the status quo that has oppressed her people for far too long. But along the path to rebellion, she grapples with complicated relationships, including formidable allies and ruthless foes who will do anything to maintain their dominance.

As the tension escalates and loyalties shift, Mare must determine who she can trust. In this gripping tale of courage, betrayal, and deception, the fight for a new future looms ever closer, with Mare at the heart of it all. Her journey to empower the oppressed and redefine her destiny ultimately unveils the true price of power in a world divided by blood.

It took me a while to get into this one with all the world-building, but I couldn't put it down once that was out of the way! There were a lot of characters introduced, but they had good recall, so they didn’t just disappear. Secrets everywhere, twists, betrayals, and powers—such a wild ride! The whole Reds vs. Silvers dynamic was so intriguing, and that ending?? Brutal. Definitely excited to keep going with the series!
