Think you know the person you married? Think again…Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife. Every anniversary the couple exchange traditional gifts – paper, cotton, pottery, tin – and each year Adam’s wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read. Until now. They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn’t randomly win this trip. One of them is lying, and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after. Ten years of marriage. Ten years of secrets. And an anniversary they will never forget. Rock Paper Scissors is the latest exciting domestic thriller from the queen of the killer twist, New York Times bestselling author Alice Feeney.

Awal sampe separuh buku ngantuk parah, tapi abis itu mulai naik tensi nya pas ada tokoh ketiga.

Minusnya kebanyakan flashback sih, meski emang flashback² itu ada artinya, tapi too much aja rasanya.

Endingnya sangat² pecah, love it!

Tell me why I finished this till 3am and couldnt sleep? WELL ITS THAT WORTH IT! This is what I mean when I say I want a mystery thriller. From the very first page, something just feels... wrong. Every conversation, every character, every little detail had me doubt everything. I genuinely couldn't trust a single person in this book.

And the worst (or best) part? Every time I finally thought, "Okay, I know who's lying. I know what's happening," the end of each chapter would completely flip the narrative and make me question everything all over again. The book literally plays with your mind.

As the story went on, it just kept getting darker, creepier, and more unsettling. I was so invested that I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know what was actually going on- the truth.

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE TWIST. Not just one... MULTIPLE. That revelation made me rethink everything I had read before. I actually had to stop for a second because my brain refused to believe what was happening. It was one of those moments where you realize the story you've been reading... isn't even the story you thought you were reading 😭

"She left. He stayed. I moved in."

One thing this book does so well is remind you that you can know someone for 10, 15, even 20 years... and still never truly know them. That thought honestly gave me chills.

"Sometimes a lie is the kindest truth you can tell a person, including yourself."

This book completely exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere, the suspense, the mind games, the twists... EVERYTHING just worked. Alice Feeney, you are an absolute genius👏 This is hands down one of the best books I've read, and it's going to be very hard to top this one. Absolute perfection.

Mood: mysterious · dark Pacing: medium-paced

Plot twist gila

Mood: mysterious

This one started off well, I really liked the letters, I found the setting to be nice and creepy, Adams condition was an interesting one that I had only heard of once before. We then hit the middle section and although the rest was fast paced, this section seemed to slow down. However, we were then rewarded with some brilliant twists in the final section which were totally worth the wait.

Rock Paper Scissors had the potential to be a gripping, twist-filled thriller, and while the core idea was strong, the execution left a lot to be desired. I struggled to connect with any of the characters—except Bob, who was a rare bright spot in an otherwise unlikeable cast. The plot felt hectic at times, jumping between timelines and perspectives in a way that made it hard to stay fully engaged. The anniversary letters were particularly frustrating; I didn’t enjoy the point of view used, and finding out it was Robin halfway through just added to the confusion rather than enhancing the mystery.Overall, it was an okay read with an intriguing premise, but it didn’t quite deliver on its promise. With clearer storytelling and more compelling characters, this could have been a much stronger novel.

This book had me on the edge of my seat with its complex characters, intricate plot, and unexpected twists. I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you're looking for a thriller that explores the darker aspects of human relationships, this is a must-read.

This book was fun... I guess? Just like Beautiful Ugly, which was my first Alice Feeney, the story was interesting, the plot twists kept coming (so, even if I guessed the main twist around 50%, it kept feeling engaging). Also, just like Beautiful Ugly, I'm certain I will not remember much about this book in a week. What I will remember this book for, though, is how funny the writing felt to me (and not in a good way). I don't know if it's the fact that the words themselves were supposed to belong to writers or if it's the author's style, but the writing was trying so hard to be profound. "You can never really know someone. Time teaches us lessons that we didn't know we needed to learn. Everything happens for a reason and, no matter what, tomorrow is another day and the sun doesn't ask for permission to shine". I swear, this could very well have been a quote from the book, I'm not even exaggerating.

I enjoyed the story.  It definitely kept me interested.  Didn't guess all of the details at the end, but it all made sense and tied together well!
