Description
This week a demon-hunting priest meets his greatest challenge yet in a story from Jeremiah Christopher, while Gary Murphy warns us of the potential hazards of buying energy drinks from dear little old ladies. Franklin Klavon takes us away to an eerie world of Mannequins and Zahid Zaman relates the tale of a cursed ring from an Ancient Egyptian tomb.
In The Days of Mr Thomas, Mrs Barrowbrews is ovulating. Sharrkan continues his struggle with the Kafirs in The Thousand Nights and a Night. Mutant centipedes battle townsfolk in Gregory KH Bryant's Terror from the Edge of Space. And Joseph J Patchen wants to tell us all about The Hole.
Meanwhile there are red faces all round down here in the Schlock! secret underground bunker after encountering a minotaur in the labyrinth that is copyright law. Although At the Earth’s Core by Edgar Rice Burroughs is in the public domain in his home country, the US, it’s still copyright in Schlock’s home country, the UK . In its place we give you another Hollow Earth classic, Edward Bulwer Lytton’s The Coming Race, (which is out of copyright even in Venezuela). And since we’re stepping lightly through the aforementioned labyrinth now, we will now be serialising Edgar Allen Poe’s Narrative of A. Gordon Pym, rather than Robert E Howard’s Almuric, as stated last week.
Exciting stuff, eh?
Now accepting stories for the Halloween edition. Send your tales of ghosties and ghoulies and long-leggety beasties to editor@schlock.co.uk. And there’s a chance they’ll be reprinted in the new Anthology: Christmas Ghost Stories: A Schlock! Anthology. More about that next week.
