Description

Juliette's life is defined by her isolation, a result of her deadly touch that can kill anyone she comes into contact with. For 264 long days, she has been locked away, both physically and emotionally, haunted by the memory of her past and the extraordinary power she wields. As she navigates the loneliness and fear, she struggles with the yearning for connection, deeply aware of the threat she poses to those she might care about.

When a dark force seeks to control her, Juliette faces a decision that could change everything. Encountering unexpected allies and confronting the reality of her abilities, she begins to understand the potential within her to either destroy or heal. With the weight of her choices heavy on her shoulders, she must learn to embrace who she is and determine how to wield her power while seeking the freedom she desperately craves.

Mood: mysterious · tense Pacing: fast-paced Focus: plot-driven

This book was long overdue in my library, as I did not want to read it for so long. I just wish that I had not picked this up at all. I've tried really hard to like this book. Juliette's situation, her thoughts, and everything in between sometimes have such long descriptions that seem so flowery! Being descriptive is good; hence, figures of speech really do their job. HOWEVER, if it is repetitive and with such long descriptions throughout, IT WILL NOT BE THAT NICE TO READ.The characters feel too flat for me. I really couldn't remember anything aside from wishing not to finish this anymore. "All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart." This one struck me as I really felt bad for her. Not being wanted by anyone, yet longing to cling to hope and the desperation to touch anyone."I want to be the bird that flies away." I just hope that in the following books, she may be able to fly and get the freedom that she seeks. It’s just really weird for me how these two are her love interests. I get that they may have character development, but how can you pass everything that you have encountered and experienced with them as an impasse to finally choosing either one of them?
