While it’s hardly perfect, I did really enjoy this one. The setting and atmosphere of the novel were top notch, and, for the most part, the twists were really surprising.
After seeing the film adaptation, I absolutely loved this story. When I discovered that this was in fact originally a book I immediately bought a copy. I found this book so clever in it's plot twists and I was pleasantly surprised by it's ending. One thing I like about this book is that it is something you need to experience at least twice to get the full benefit of the plot. The first time is to, of course, experience it blind-sighted and not knowing what is going to happen. The second time you can piece together all the clues and hints (which greatly foreshadow the ending throughout) with the knowledge of the ending. For me it almost felt like reading a completely new story the second time around. Often when you know the ending to a story like this, it isn't really something that you want to re-read but I have found with this book, every time I read it I find something new or have a completely different perspective on things and it has become one of my favourite books to read. I am a big fan of the mystery/suspense genre so the plot twists are my main reasons for liking this book. Overall this book is very well written and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those like myself, who like a good mystery.
