Description

In this second book of the D I Ramsay trilogy, the Inspector is still wrestling with thoughts of his son’s untimely death and the information that he received from the psychic Michael. These thoughts however have to be pushed to the back of his mind as he tries to untangle the circumstances surrounding discovery of the dismembered body of a young woman found in a large bag on the foreshore of the Moray Firth. The situation is further complicated when the body of a migrant seasonal worker is found in a burnt out caravan on a farm in the Black Isle. Ramsay tries to penetrate the close knit community of Romanian seasonal workers living on the farm but is hindered by the language barrier and their reluctance to give him any help he turns to the psychic Michael in an effort to get a break through. D I Ramsay’s visit to Michael did little to help his feelings of scepticism as the psychic again could only speak in obscure terms regarding the murder of the young girl and upset Ramsay by mentioning once again the van that he said caused the death of the Inspector’s son. Gradually Ramsay and his team unpick the knot and manage to piece together the facts surrounding the two deaths. As the grizzly truth emerges D I Ramsay once again has to admit that Michael’s information does have substance and on the private front finds that the information the he received about his son could also be accurate.
Ramsay eventually gets to the truth and gets the result he had hoped for both with regard to the case and his son’s death.
