Description

Greed and Fear, two emotions that rule both individuals...and Countries.

Now, China has decided that they will do whatever it takes to acquire TQB technology.

There was a glaring flaw in their plan. When they kill an unborn little baby in a raid, the Queen Bitch is Released.

Now, China has two options...Kill Bethany Anne, or Sue For Peace.

**Please note, as mentioned in a review, there is flagrantly foul language in these novels. The main character does not have a problem with cussing, just uninspired cussing.

wasn’t as impressed with this oneThis was okay, but nothing special either. It dragged a lot. I think the amount of fighting and violence was too much. It was needed in some scenes but there was no need to drag it out as long as it was. It actually detracted from the story, especially as the bunker fight was all rinse and repeat scenes. That nothing happened in this book, except the fight with the PLA and China. It was as if Tabitha scenes were only thrown in as a scene breaker, as they didn’t really push the story forward. Nothing about why she chose these guys to go after was explained much at all, except that maybe the guy at the top did something against TQB. But it wasn’t explained well what they did. Having Ectarina give birth at the end was nice, but an obvious plot device to the concept of the death of the the unborn girl, Alexandra, ending with Bethany Anne being able to see the birth of their next generation. Major counterpoint to the earlier death but too contrived and obvious in my opinion.I also don’t care for the future alien bits popping in. From those you get the explanation that all of these books are just stories being told by those well into the future to a class regarding their Empress. But then when reading them it’s written as if they are current. It doesn’t mix well for me. Plus with having the future already partially laid out, you know certain things will happen or not happen, no matter what. One of the worst offenders for this, the reader knows that Bethany Anne is the Empress in this future. So anytime she goes in to fight, you know she’ll survive. Then when she goes off on her own to fight, like in the Chinese bunker, you already know no significant harm will come to her. Sort of spoils the story. Now we know Adam is also in existence in this future.Sadly the series turned from fairly good to blah for me. The further you get into it, it just seems the same characters repeating the same jokes and repeating the same style of events. There is nothing surprising or new. Great another rocket scientist joke, mentioning BMW drinking, Tina’s field trip to space, Tabitha repeating the same boring bits, “Don’t say that in front of Bethany Anne” joke, or even the Pepsi/Coke commentary. I realize people in general repeat things often in their life, but we read to experience new things, that maybe we can’t have in real life.Bringing up the Pepsi/Coke debate. A good boss would understand that everyone has different tastes. It’s even mentioned that after being enhanced, most of the Bitches and the Queen don’t even care for beer any longer. So why is it Bethany Anne, who is supposed to be so good with people, can’t focus beyond her own preferences and has to force those preferences on others. Fine she drinks Coke, but at meetings and where so many others live aboard a ship, there will be some diehard Pepsi fans. I’d prefer an argument between the two sides over a dictator stating you can only have the one she prefers. It might seem like a small item to argue over, but as little decisions are made and handled, usually so go the larger ones as well. A better way to have handled it, after getting enhanced, for whatever reason, Pepsi tastes wrong to this group, where Coke tastes like the nectar of the gods. That or you could make it, the Weschelbag only like Pepsi, due to their nanocytes and Vampire’s nanocytes want Coke. Maybe since their nanocytes are made by differing factions, they pull etheric or other energy differently from these drinks. I hope that the further this series goes it will get better. Maybe other writers using this universe will help it. Of course that didn’t help with the Martha Carr Oriceran Universe, where so many voices created a universe where the whole didn’t mesh together. In that I couldn’t understand how so many various differing ways of magic could work. Not to mention the rules seemed to change in that world, depending how who was doing the writing - sometimes the same author would even change the rules between books. Don’t even get me started regarding the Maria Apple character Oriceran books - I had to quit reading those as they were so bad, and I have only ever quit reading a series, or even a book, after starting, possibly three times and I’ve read thousands of books. I hope that won’t be the case here, but as Anderle had his hand in that universe too, it has become a concern.
