Description
This is a post-apocalyptic tale that chronicles a young man’s journey into manhood. It is a page turner that unfolds mystery by mystery, never revealing the surprise ending. It has innocence, intrigue, philosophy, and humor overlaid with love found, then love lost. It starts in France during World War I, and ends 200 years later after the collapse of the modern world. Think of Cormac McCarthy’s ‘The Road’, but skip it and all its doom. See instead how pockets of people band together to start again, all the while unaware of a ancient evil that influences their fate.
Our hero, John Hemmings, grows up in Blueberry, Oregon in the 1990s and unwittingly receives a bizarre inheritance from his grandfather, something Henry Hemmings found under Pharaoh Khufu’s pyramid. It is life changing and very powerful. John struggles to deal with it while watching his normal life gradually being destroyed, in a journey that spans time and sanity, love and hate, but ultimately brings redemption. Although this is a work of fiction it is grounded in our current reality.
