Although I am not a dog owner, I simply loved this book. It even made me that much closer with my own two furry companions - cats. The story comes from Enzo's point of view and includes his thoughts, dreams, philosophy, and concerns as he tells his owner's story . The writing was wonderful and draws you in, though I do admit that I skimmed a few parts (philosophy just isn't my favorite thing to read, I guess). I loved that the story comes from a dog's point of view, which isn't used too much. The title decieved me a bit - it doesn't come from the peace a dog gets from running in the rain, but rather the philosophy driving a racecar in the rain provides. Granted, I'm not a racecar fan at all. However, the book isn't about racecar driving. It's about the love a dog has for its family, the nature of life, and how - according to the dog - race car driving is a metaphor for all of life.
