View All-> 1.5 - 2 starsI was genuinely so excited for this and it felt like the flimsy paranormal romances that came out round 2010.At no point did I care about anything. The characters, the world, the magic, the insta-love, the slang, the plot (which barely existed till the last 25%) and the entire thing could of been guessed by literally anyone.Okay I lied, I liked the house.I will not be continuing and I am heartbroken because my locked library edition is stunning.
When Emily's father dies suddenly she's shipped off from Wales to her new family in the South of America, a family whom she had previously thought to all be dead (at least, according to her father)She begins to present with magical powers and yada yada yada, it's a magical coming of age story, you know the rest. But it's the mystery of what's going on around her that's the interesting part, Emily has been sucked into old town politics with a very traditional grandmother, and things around her just get weirder and weirder. By the last half of the book I was gripped and finished the last half in a single evening.I don't want to spoil much more but if you like cottage core witchy vibes with a modern twist, this is for you!4/5, recommend!- 'an angry woman written off as crazy? Wow, what a plot twist!'
