For her fourteenth birthday, Princess Rowena gets an unusual gift from her Aunt Frideswide, a sorceress. But this gift isn't the boon it sounded like in the fairy tale, and it attracts the interest of the local dragon. When Rowena is abducted, Aunt Frideswide must go to the dragon's lair to deal with the unexpected consequences of her spell. This story originally appeared in Sword & Sorceress 9, published in 1992.
