Description

In a world divided by water, two kingdoms stand in stark contrast, their peaceful coexistence shattered by the looming threat of war. A skilled warrior disguised as a commoner, Lia finds herself at a crucial crossroads when she is thrust into a realm where betrayal and secrets lurk behind every corner. Her loyalty and survival instincts are put to the ultimate test as she navigates a landscape fraught with treachery and political machinations.

As Lia's missions unfold, she uncovers layers of rivalry and ambition that force her to reckon with her own beliefs and desires. Her journey is complicated by her growing connection with the enigmatic prince of the opposing kingdom, whose charm and intelligence challenge her preconceptions. The attraction between them ignites a conflict that transcends their nations, as both grapple with their identities and the weight of their responsibilities.

The stakes rise with each passing moment as forces conspire against them, leading to a cataclysmic choice that could alter the fate of their kingdoms forever. As the tension mounts, readers are drawn into a vivid tapestry of intrigue, where love and duty collide, resulting in a gripping and emotionally charged narrative.

Amidst the richness of this meticulously crafted world, themes of power, loyalty, and the complexities of love take center stage, inviting readers to explore what it truly means to bridge the chasm between enemies and allies. The journey is one that promises not only adventure but also a profound exploration of the ties that bind and the sacrifices made in the name of peace.

I really wanted to rate this 4.5 or 4.75 stars. But I couldn't. I enjoyed reading it too much!Slow burn romanceWho hurt you?One bed trope (ish)Enemies to loversIt was pretty predictable plot line. Some plot points I didn't expect though. I love this plot anyway. The ending threw me a little and I can't wait to read the next book!

I came into The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen expecting a classic enemies-to-lovers fantasy with spice––and on many levels, it absolutely delivered.Lara is a warrior-princess forged in bitterness and purpose: she has only ever known two things — that her father’s kingdom is dying, and that the king of the Bridge Kingdom, Aren, must fall. So when political machinations send her as his bride under the banner of peace, she’s ready to destroy him.But Ithicana is not the evil fortress she’s been raised to believe, and Aren is far more honourable than her mission allows her to consider. The shift from hatred to reluctant respect to real, scary feelings is deftly done and—yes—satisfyingly slow. The tension between them breathes. And the world! A storm-rattled archipelago, giant bridge trade routes, treacherous seas, snakes, sharks, spies and assassins lurking in jungle shadows—it’s a vivid setting I happily sank into.Where I knocked off a star: the romance is so slow-burn that if you come in expecting fireworks right away, you might feel impatient. And the ending? Heart-wrenching in the best possible way, but it leaves you dangling (so… good thing there’s a sequel). Some world-building corners stay a little sketchy, and a few plot beats feel familiar (betrayal, divided loyalties, etc).Bottom line: If you like your fantasy with layers of political intrigue, a heroine who knows her way around a blade and a slow-burn romance that earns the heat, you’ll find a lot to love here. I’m very much looking forward to continuing the series.Would I recommend? Yes—just go in ready for gradual build-up rather than instant “happily ever after.”

This cliffhanger is too much! I was barely able to continue reading and not put the book down and start crying! It felt like my heart was being ripped out! All that love and trust that was built wasn't just thrown away, IT WAS TORN UP AND BURNED! I need to just go sleep because i otherwise won't be able to rest until it is made right! I feel so sorry for all those people who read this book but had to wait until the next book came out, my condolences for your dying hearts..
