This didn't need to be made. I loved the first book because its fantastic plot made me overlook the bad writing and insufferable protagonist. This book had an unnecessary and convoluted plot with two timelines and four pov characters, bad writing, and nothing to make me care about anything that was happening. Information was repeated 5 billion times. Weird fixation on the fact that Owl is the only person who could carry a child and the child would be non-genetically related brother's (this is said multiple times in chapter one). The explanations for how certain elements were executed make no sense. I hate Ambrose and I strongly dislike Owl. It kinda demonizes people with OCD and dissociation?? I told myself that since the first book wrapped up its story so well, I didn't need to read this one because it could only spoil my enjoyment. I was correct and regret spending 8 days reading this garbage. But I guess there were enough elements to keep me reading so it gets a very generous 2 stars. I think less of the first book now and dear god I hope that this series is done.
