Description

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

⭐️ 2.25Meh, I don't know how I went from loving ‘The Selection' and giving it 4 stars to just not giving a toss about the series, but I'm kind of glad I'm finally done with it. It was so much fun at the beginning, but I just never connected with Eadlyn or really cared about her, and that definitely affected my overall enjoyment. I just felt indifferent the whole time, and reading from her perspective felt more like a chore than something I actually enjoyed.Just like the previous book, ‘The Heir’, this one was honestly a drag to finish. How do I feel about the ending and who she picked? I'm fine with it. I can see why he was the final choice, especially after this book. He was actually my second pick, but I'm still not heavily invested in the pairing, it was just fine.Like I said in my ‘The Heir’ review, I honestly kind of wish Kiera Cass had ended the series with ‘The One’.

I loved this extension of the Selection series and liked that they included multiple links to the previous series. Such as Gavril, Marlee and obviously America and Maxon. I would recommend this duology but it wasn't as good as the first trilogy. It was still good to read however I did want the friends-to-lovers trope with Kile.
