Description

Inspector McKee of Manhattan Homicide, on a holiday, is driving from Denver to Albuquerque when overtaken by a violent spring storm. His car disabled, he makes for refuse in an isolated hacienda. In the courtyard he finds a Mexican lying with his head bashed it. Without so much as a by-your-leave, he drags the dying man in and gets him to bed, commandeering the help of such people as he finds. Soon McKee discovers the corpse of a young woman in one of the outbuildings; a shocking murder has been committed — two if the Mexican dies.
