The Enormous Lie

American textbooks have buried the contributions of homosexual men, either by omission or outright distortion of their sexual orientation. This work intends to shine light on the achievements of gay men in many nations during the Twentieth Century in most areas of artistic endeavor. The work includes chapters on novelists, dramatists, poets, choreographers, painters, sculptors, photographers, film makers, producers, directors and actors, and critics. Short biographical sketches, including the men to whom they were partnered in longer relationships. The number of gay men is so large that detailed descriptions of their lives would require several volumes. The Enormous Lie did not occur by accident. It was an intentional effort to prevent everyone from understanding the gay achievement and to continue to make gay youth feel sinful and unworthy. (Even educated gay readers may be surprised at the extent of the cover-up.)
