This one caught me by surprise. I was not expecting them to actually do it. They had joked about it but to think they actually did it.I know I'm getting repetitive at this point but I liked this book. I'm really enjoying this universe of books. Getting to see the next generation is also really fun. I was lowkey expecting more of the next generation but so far, we don't have much. The other two books in this series are unrelated to the previous generation aside from them being close to Gigi and then Wyatt gets his own book with Blake and the same for Bad Idea. Here's hoping we have more. And I am hoping we get one for Alex and Owen. That one was an interesting plot point. I wish there had been more than what we got. Owen seemed hooked but said Alex would get bored of him. I want to see him proven wrong.Seeing Garrett as a protective father for both of his kids was so funny, even if he did come off as an ass sometimes. But he's serious about hockey and his kids so Ryder sweeping in would have really ruffled him, especially with how their first impression went. Carma was ... a mistake. Kind of glad she wasn't around much. One of the things I love about this series is that there isn't any real jealousy. Aside from one moment with Dean, there's not even a thought that someone is cheating and even that moment was kind of iffy because they weren't really together yet and it didn't last long. Other than that, there was no real competition. The Chase had a bit of one but there was no real risk in that one. There's also not the usual third act separation in most of these books, which is another nice change of pace. The next book will apparently have a fake dating storyline. Always fun to see those go from fake to real.
I missed these characters and this world so much. I loved Gigi and Ryder!
5 stars!!wow. I didn't think i would love this book as much as I did. although goodreads kept fighting with me and marking it as read even though I wasn't finished 😒😒 but anyway that's it? no bonus chapter? lol 😭
My Rating:★★★★★"The Graham Effect" by Elle Kennedy, published on October 31, 2023, by Piaktus, is a thrilling addition to the world of hockey romance that has left me thoroughly entertained and eager for more. The story revolves around Gigi Graham, a determined young woman with aspirations to make it to the women's national hockey team and win Olympic gold while breaking free from the shadow of her famous father. To achieve her goals, she finds herself in need of assistance from Luke Ryder, a six-foot-five, opinionated, and undeniably sexy co-captain with a complicated past. The plot is a delightful blend of sports, romance, and personal growth, with a unique twist that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. Kennedy masterfully weaves together the complexities of a merged men's hockey team and the unlikely partnership between Gigi and Luke. The dynamics between the characters are vividly portrayed, making them feel authentic and relatable. What I enjoyed the most is the palpable chemistry between Gigi and Luke. Their interactions are charged with tension, making for a compelling and, at times, humorous reading experience. Kennedy skillfully builds up the anticipation, and when the characters finally acknowledge their attraction, it adds an extra layer of intensity to the narrative. The writing style is engaging and fluid, allowing the reader to easily immerse themselves in the world of competitive hockey and passionate romance. Despite being a sports-themed romance, the author injects a delightful spiciness into the story that adds a refreshing twist to the genre. My only quibble is that I wish the characters had acted on their attraction sooner. The undeniable chemistry between Gigi and Luke could have been explored earlier in the story, adding an extra layer of depth to their relationship. However, this is a minor point in an otherwise engaging and enjoyable read.In conclusion, "The Graham Effect" is a must-read for fans of sports romance, especially those who enjoy the sizzle of a slow-burning attraction. Elle Kennedy has delivered another captivating story, and I eagerly anticipate her future works.
