The Grange at High Force

Mystery, history, and hilarious adventures are blended as three British boys try to find a statue supposedly destroyed in the sixteenth century. With a retired admiral who shares their interest in old weapons as well as in the whereabouts of the statue, they are marooned on the moors by a record-breaking blizzard. Their rescue of an eccentric old lady, who knows more than she will tell about the statue, is the exciting turning point of the mystery and a scene of real heroism. David, Peter, and Arthur, the same boys who solved the earlier mystery of Colonel Sheperton's Clock, are delightful characters, and Philip Turner, a superb storyteller, is at his entertaining best in this fine story.
