Description
• Three of British author Edgar Wallace's more unusual published works from the early 1900s are bound together in this Kindle book: The Great Reward, Those Folk of Bulboro and The Price a Woman Pays
The Great Reward
Thirteen quirky short stories from the master of mystery.
Those Folk of Bulboro
Another departure from Wallace’s usual mystery tales in this short novel. The book revolves around the nephew of a small town English doctor who takes over his uncle’s practise and runs into trouble with a religious fanatic.
The Price a Woman Pays
A religious twist makes this Wallace novel unique. Dr. Beechington knew better than most how difficult it was to live in genteel poverty. His experience had made him even more determined to ensure that his daughter Mary married a man who could provide comfort rather than love. The result was that Mary was left in a dilemma. Should she choose to obey her father, whose watchful care has tended her from childhood? Or should she follow her heart, and select her poor but honest lover?'
About The Author
In England in the 1920s Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was said to be the second biggest seller after the Bible.
Wallace was the illegitimate son of an actress, adopted by a Billingsgate Fish porter named Dick Freeman. He sold newspapers in London at age 11 and joined the army at 21. He was a Reuters war correspondent during the Second Boer War and wrote thrillers to earn extra money from books such as The Four Just Men (1905).
He failed in his bid to stand as Liberal MP for Blackpool and moved to Hollywood to work as a script writer. While drafting the blockbuster film King Kong, he died from diabetes.
The Edgar Wallace Mystery Classics Series is published by Pearl Necklace Books and available through Amazon. The series mystery includes:
