Description

In a world that has been overtaken by a parasitic alien species known as the "Souls," Melanie Stryder fights fiercely for her identity and the love of those she holds dear. The Souls inhabit human bodies, erasing their personalities, but Melanie's spirit is unyielding. Instead of surrendering to the alien consciousness that has invaded her mind, she clings to her memories and emotions, creating a unique struggle between the two beings cohabiting her body.

As Melanie navigates this new reality, her internal conflict leads her to uncover hidden secrets and a network of survivors who resist the alien takeover. Through her journey, the themes of love, loyalty, and the fight for autonomy shine brightly, illustrating the indomitable human spirit. Melanie's story is not just about survival; it's a testament to the depths of connection and the will to live fully, even when faced with unimaginable odds.

One of my all time favourite books and as someone who doesn't normally like audio books I am very pleased to say Kate Reading does a great job as narrator

After not liking Twilight that much,I have always been in doubt about reading The Host .However, I downloaded the audiobook on a whim, and started listening to it.I struggled through first chapters, but to my surprise I loved the rest of the book. I am so happy that I finally gave this a chance. Because unlike Bella, Wanda is so sweet and adorable.

I read this a few years ago and gave it four stars. Four stars? How did that happen? I tried reading it again and got 60 pages into it before giving up. If I hadn't read it already I would have continued, but since I already knew the story I didn't feel like putting up with it. How was I not bored to death of this before? There were a few times I thought, "Just ten more pages. Ten more. I can do that, right?" This would be followed by me shutting the book after four more pages. The storyline is decent. Nothing unique, but still enjoyable. And Wanda and Ian get really cute towards the end. But is it worth it? Hecks no! Sure, it's better than Twilight, but then, what isn't? (A little book called [b:Once in a Full Moon|8428056|Once in a Full Moon (Full Moon, #1)|Ellen Schreiber|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327895088s/8428056.jpg|13291257], that what.)Honestly, most of the book is the characters wandering around. Which I guess makes sense, since the main character is called Wanderer. However, this does not make for an interesting read. I don't want to wait 60 pages for something good to happen. It's not worth it. Not even a little. The movie, sure. That was much more fast paced and exciting. It wasn't a long, drawn out 600 pages. But no one should waste their time on this book.
