Yeine Darr's life takes a dramatic turn when she is summoned to the opulent yet perilous city of Sky. As an outsider from the northern tribes, she finds herself navigating the treacherous politics of a powerful family steeped in ancient rituals and divine secrets. Her mother's sudden and suspicious death propels her into a world where gods and mortals intertwine, each with their own agendas and ambitions.

Amidst betrayal and intrigue, Yeine must confront not only the legacy of her ancestors but also the oppressive system that governs her destiny. As she struggles to claim her identity and rights in a society that sees her as less than worthy, she unravels a conspiracy that could alter the very fabric of her world. As alliances form and clash, the lines between love, loyalty, and vengeance blur, and Yeine must decide how far she is willing to go to reclaim her power and uncover the truth.

I felt like someone put *** or ^^^ names in this book - I could not, for the life of me, remember anyone’s names for the most part of the 300 pages. Why? Who does this? You never think of how much simple character names define your view of the story, until it slaps you in the face.
