The Iron Chariot

It is the summer of 1908, and the setting is a beautiful resort hotel on an island off the southern coast of Norway. A young forestry agent named Blinde becomes engaged to the charming Hilde Gjaernes. But the next day, he is found dead on a deserted stretch of the island. Detective Asbjorn Krag is summoned from Kristiana, the capital, to investigate, and he uncovers a tangle of jealousy, passion, long-hidden crimes, and murder. Krag also finds that he has another mystery to solve. A phantom wagon that leaves no tracks in the ground has haunted the island for years, and now it was heard again by people on the island at the time of Blinde's suspicious death. Who - or what - killed Agent Blinde? And just what is this mysterious iron chariot that is heard but never seen?
