The Last Defender

When the last stronghold of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople, is threatened by the armies of the Ottoman Turks, soldiers are called from all part of Europe to help defend the Christian outpost from falling to the forces of the Sultan.
One of these who answers the call is Casca, mercenary, warrior and soldier of fortune. But he goes for a deeper reason than most. For him, Constantinople is the last vestige of the once-mighty Roman Empire, the land of his birth, and he cannot stand by and let the final connection to his long past be severed without him trying to keep it free.
For Casca, he is the last Roman soldier of a fading empire. He is The Last Defender.
